The 2014 JUNO Awards amps up its green energy commitment with Bullfrog Power

Bullfrog Power and CARAS partner on biggest renewable energy commitment in JUNO Awards history

Toronto—For the seventh consecutive year, The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences (CARAS) and The JUNO Awards will be bullfrogpowered® with 100 per cent green electricity. Set to take place from March 24 to 30, 2014, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the 2014 JUNO Awards are striving to be a model for best practices in event sustainability.

Bullfrog Power is playing a key role in supporting the achievement of this objective. Through the partnership with CARAS, all 2014 JUNO Awards event venues, over 2,900 hotel room nights and the CARAS head office will be bullfrogpowered with clean, pollution-free renewable energy. This means that Bullfrog Power’s generators put renewable energy onto the grid to match the amount of electricity used by JUNO events, hotel stays and the CARAS office. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

“Artists have a unique ability to connect with people on the issues of our time, including climate change—and that’s why Bullfrog has always worked closely with them and with artistic events across Canada,” said Josephine Coombe, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Bullfrog Power. “We see our partnership with CARAS and The JUNO Awards as an important platform for reaching out to Canadians through the power of music to continue a national conversation on the environment, and we appreciate the leadership CARAS has shown over the years.”

This year, CARAS will bullfrogpower over 600 megawatt hours of electricity, which is equivalent to the electricity used by more than 2,500 Canadian households for a week. By choosing Bullfrog Power’s green energy, CARAS is reducing the environmental footprint of The JUNO Awards operations and events, as well as educating the public about the importance of renewable energy in Canada.

This year’s bullfrogpowered JUNO events include the JUNO Nominee Press Conference, JUNO Gala Dinner & Awards, JUNO Songwriters’ Circle, Chairman’s Reception and JUNO Welcome Reception, The JUNO Awards Broadcast, JUNO Cup, JUNOfest and JUNO Fan Fare among others.

Across the country, notable Canadian artists such as Dave Carroll, Gord Downie, Dave Gunning— recent winner of CBC Music and Hockey Night in Canada’s Song Quest—and Chris McKhool of the Sultans of String, among many others, are supporters of clean, pollution-free energy with Bullfrog Power for their homes. In addition, many leading Canadian musicians have bullfrogpowered their tours, concerts or companies, including The Tragically Hip, Billy Talent, Blue Rodeo, and k-os.
