OLG chooses green energy with Bullfrog Power® for its PlayOLG.ca and “Know Your Limit” websites

Toronto, March 26, 2015—Bullfrog Power, Canada’s leading green energy provider, announced today that OLG is choosing 100 per cent clean, pollution-free electricity for its PlayOLG.ca and “Know Your Limit” websites. The decision to bullfrogpower the sites expands OLG’s already significant commitment to renewable energy with Bullfrog Power and marks a new stage in the partnership.

“Bullfrog Power’s clean, renewable energy has been part of OLG’s program since 2008,” said Anthony Santilli, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Bullfrog Power. “OLG has been a consistent innovator on the environmental front and we’re delighted to be working with them to build on their sustainability efforts.”

OLG sources green electricity for PlayOLG.ca, knowyourlimit.ca, the Brantford Casino, 60 per cent of the electricity used at the LEED-certified Slots at Georgian Downs, as well as its entire network of digital signs. In choosing renewable energy for these websites, facilities, and peripherals, OLG is reducing its carbon footprint by more than 1,200 tonnes each year, as well as reducing the emission of other harmful pollutants that contribute to poor air quality.

Choosing clean, renewable electricity is an important part of Bet On Green, a program OLG created to lessen the environmental impact of its operations. As part of Bet On Green, OLG has reduced lottery ticket sizes, saving the equivalent of more than 39 million sheets of paper from provincial landfills, and undertaken lighting retrofits at gaming sites to enable the use of energy saving LED and CFL lighting.

“The decision to choose green energy with Bullfrog Power complements OLG’s ongoing commitment to reduce our environmental impact across the organization,” said Paul Pellizzari, Executive Director for Policy and Social Responsibility. “Renewable energy is an important part of our efforts to become a global leader in energy-efficient, environmentally lower-impact gaming.”

Through the agreement, Bullfrog Power’s generators put 100 per cent renewable electricity onto the grid to match the amount of power the site uses. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

By choosing clean, pollution-free electricity with Bullfrog Power, OLG is taking meaningful action on climate change and supporting the development of new green energy projects in communities across the country.
