Toronto, January 28, 2015—Today Bullfrog Power, Canada’s leading green energy provider, is announcing an environmental partnership with The Tragically Hip to green the energy used by the Canadian dates of their Fully and Completely tour.
The announcement is a milestone in the long relationship between Bullfrog Power and The Hip. Bullfrog Power has provided clean, renewable energy for The Tragically Hip shows dating back to 2007. And in 2005—the year Bullfrog opened for business—The Hip lead singer Gord Downie became one of Bullfrog Power’s first residential customers.
“Gord Downie is an inspiring musician and incredible supporter of the work that Bullfrog Power has been doing over the years to grow green energy in Canada,” says Bullfrog Power Vice President Josephine Coombe. “By bullfrogpowering their tour, The Tragically Hip are taking a really important step to make our vision of a renewably powered future for all Canadians a reality.”
But what does it mean to bullfrogpower a tour date? Here’s how it works. For each Canadian date of the Fully and Completely tour, Bullfrog Power’s generators put 100 per cent green electricity onto the grid to match the power consumption of The Tragically Hip’s show. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.
In the past year alone, Bullfrog Power has worked with a variety of artists, bullfrogpowering the 2014 JUNO Awards, tour dates by Sam Roberts Band and The Sheepdogs as well as all of the dates of David Suzuki Foundation’s Blue Dot Tour.
By choosing green electricity for their 2015 Fully and Completely tour, The Tragically Hip are reducing the environmental impact of their shows and helping to support the development of new green energy projects in communities across Canada. Bullfrog Power supports community projects in almost every province and territory in Canada, from a solar tracker with the Tsleil-Waututh First Nation in North Vancouver to a solar installation at the Falls Brook Centre in Glassville, New Brunswick.
