Ambassatours will bullfrogpower® its head office with 100 per cent clean, renewable electricity

Halifax—Bullfrog Power, Canada’s 100 per cent green energy provider, and Ambassatours Gray Line, Atlantic Canada’s premier motor coach operator, are announcing that Ambassatours’ head office will be bullfrogpowered with 100 per cent clean, renewable electricity. By choosing Bullfrog Power, Ambassatours Gray Line—known as the “Company with the Kilts”—is setting an example within the industry and supporting the development of new renewable generation in Canada.

“Ambassatours’ partnership with Bullfrog Power continues our commitment to reducing idling and taking action on climate change,” said Mary Dempster, Chief Operating Officer, Ambassatours Gray Line. “Choosing to bullfrogpower our head office ensures that Ambassatours’ customers get to see the best that Atlantic Canada has to offer from an organization that is doing its best to reduce the environmental impact of their journey.”

Through the agreement, Bullfrog’s Maritime generators put renewable electricity onto the grid to match the amount of power used by Ambassatours Gray Line’s head office. In Atlantic Canada, Bullfrog sources from EcoLogoM-certified wind farms and low-impact hydro facilities in Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.

The commitment to renewable energy continues Ambassatours Gray Line’s longstanding work to reduce air pollution. In addition to being bullfrogpowered, Ambassatours Gray Line was the first motor coach operator in Canada to launch an idle-free campaign: IDLE-FREE. The IDLE-FREE Campaign launched in conjunction with The Children’s Clean Air Network on Clean Air Day 2009 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This campaign allowed Ambassatours to focus on driver education and involved the implementation of a software program that is able to monitor and measure vehicles so that those drivers who are best able to reduce idling can be rewarded for their efforts.

“Choosing to bullfrogpower its head office with green electricity is an excellent way for Ambassatours to build on the success of their IDLE-FREE program,” said Holly Bond, National Sales Director, Bullfrog Power. “By expanding its strategy to encompass both its fleet and head office, Ambassatours provides a progressive example of how an organization can make sustainable choices across every aspect of its business.”
