Vancouver, British Columbia, April 5, 2019 —Bullfrog Power, Canada’s leading green energy provider, is pleased to announce Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services® (Alternatives) is now choosing 100 per cent green electricity, green natural gas, and green fuel for its Aldergrove facilities. Alternatives is now the first funeral and cremation services provider to purchase green energy through Bullfrog. By choosing all three of Bullfrog’s green energy solutions, Alternatives is addressing the entire energy-related carbon footprint of these facilities.

Bullfrog Power’s producers put green electricity and green natural gas onto the respective energy systems to match the amount of conventional electricity and natural gas used by Alternatives’ Aldergrove facilities. Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. Bullfrog’s green natural gas is sourced from methane-capture projects situated at various Canadian landfills, waste water treatment facilities and anaerobic digestion sites. Green fuel is injected into the Canadian fuel system to match the amount of conventional fuel Alternatives’ fleet uses. Bullfrog sources from biodiesel producers that repurpose waste streams from food and feed manufacturing, and used cooking oils from restaurants and kitchen facilities.

Alternatives is committed to creating a legacy of environmental consciousness, and has proven this commitment through its offerings of sustainable death care services such as green burials. It is also one of five funeral homes in Canada that is 3-Leaf rated by the Green Burial Council (GBC) of North America. This means that Alternatives offers GBC approved burial containers, does not use harmful embalming fluids, and offers non-invasive techniques and material for temporary preservation.
