Toronto—Today, Bullfrog Power®, Canada’s leading green energy provider, and Unilever Canada are announcing a new green energy initiative that will see five WE Day events across Canada bullfrogpowered with clean, pollution-free electricity. WE Day is an inspirational event like no other, bringing together like-minded individuals and providing a platform for youth to learn about some of today’s most pressing issues. Each year, WE Day brings together thousands of youth to celebrate  the commitment they have made to take action on local and global causes they care about. WE Day begins October 1 in Toronto, and features bullfrogpowered events from coast to coast, including WE Day Vancouver (October 21), WE Day Alberta (October 27), WE Day Atlantic Canada (November 27) and WE Day Montreal (February 22 and 23).

“Bullfrog Power is celebrating our tenth year of providing green energy solutions to Canadians,” said Ron Seftel, CEO, Bullfrog Power. “As we look to the next ten years, today’s youth will play an essential part in making the dream of a clean energy future a reality.”

To encourage awareness of how everyone can take action for the environment by supporting renewable energy, Bullfrog Power and Unilever Canada are partnering on a social media promotion using the hashtag #ucan. During bullfrogpowered WE Day events, for every person who shares how they will reduce their environmental footprint with the #ucan hashtag, Unilever Canada will provide twenty-four hours of Bullfrog Power’s green electricity for one home.

“Unilever believes in the power of youth to transform our world and bring us towards a brighter, greener future,” said John Coyne, Vice-President and General Counsel at Unilever Canada. “That’s why we’re proud to partner with Bullfrog Power to reduce the environmental impact of the bullfrogpowered Canadian WE Day events.”

Through the #ucan promotion, for each social media share of an environmental action with the #ucan hashtag, Bullfrog’s generators will put 100 per cent clean, pollution-free electricity onto the grid to match the amount of conventional power used by the average Canadian home for twenty-four hours. Across Canada, Bullfrog Power’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

Unilever Canada has been the largest purchaser of green electricity in Canada with Bullfrog Power since 2011. Unilever brands – including Breyer’s, Popsicle, Magnum, Ben & Jerry’s, Becel and Hellmann’s – are made in facilities bullfrogpowered with renewable electricity. The Unilever Sustainable Living Plan outlines the company’s plans to double the size of its business while reducing its environmental footprint and increasing its positive social impact.

About the WE Day Movement

WE Day is the movement of our time – a movement of young people leading local and global change. WE Day celebrates and inspires this generation’s shift from me to we – towards acting with intention, leading with compassion, and a belief in the power of community. WE Day is one of the world’s largest registered non-profit initiatives on social media, with more than five million followers. This year alone over 200,000 young people will come together in 14 stadium gatherings across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. to take part in this unprecedented educational initiative.

More than a one-day event, WE Day is connected to a year-long free educational program, WE Schools, which provides educational resources and campaigns to help young people turn the day’s inspiration into sustained action. WE Day and WE Schools are cause inclusive, empowering young people to find their passion and create the change they want to see. Together WE Day and WE Schools are a blueprint for building the next generation of global change-makers. For more information, please visit www.we.org
