Students at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Vance and Leandra MacDonald lead a fairly typical student existence. And, like most students, they are very cautious about how they spend their limited disposable income. Since making the switch to Bullfrog Power, Vance and Leandra have seen a minimal impact on their finances, and feel it is an affordable investment in the future of green energy.
The MacDonalds’ decision to switch to clean electricity was not just a personal one, but rather one that they believe has broader implications for how power is produced and supplied in this province. They hope that by adding their home to a growing number that have chosen a clean energy provider, the viability of companies like Bullfrog Power and the availability of green power in Ontario will increase. The MacDonalds believe that if their decision to switch helps renewable power producers do well, it will encourage more environmentally responsible power generation over polluting generation.
When Vance is not working towards his Japanese studies and East Asian religions degree and Leandra her political science degree, the MacDonalds devote much of their leisure time to volunteering within the McMaster community. Both Leandra and Vance are peer helpers in the English as a Second Language program and work with fellow students to improve their English language skills and to help students new to Canada. The club organizes outings and other opportunities for new and resident Canadians to socialize and share their experiences of living in Canada.
