Cadbury - Canada
Cadbury Canada is the country's largest confectionery company and manufactures, markets and sells some of the leading chocolate, candy, cough and gum brands such as Caramilk, Dairy Milk, Mr. Big, Stride, Dentyne, Trident, Bubblicious, Halls, and Maynards candy. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, Cadbury Canada is a subsidiary of the world's largest confectionery company. With a history dating back over 200 years, Cadbury's products are enjoyed in almost every country around the world, and the Group employs approximately 55,000 people.
Cadbury chose green power from Bullfrog Power to offset the electricity usage of its head office and its national distribution centre, thereby reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 4,000 tonnes. These emissions reductions form part of Cadbury's global commitment to help combat climate change through a range of energy efficiency and renewable technology initiatives throughout its operations. From 2004-2007 the Carbon Disclosure Project, an annual survey of the world's 500 largest corporations to assess how they are responding to the challenge of climate change, recognized Cadbury as globally best in class. In Canada, recent environmentally responsible initiatives at head office include colleague subsidies for using public transit; default double-sided, black and white printing on all printers and photocopiers; wireless offices to minimize overall need and use of paper; motion sensor lighting in all offices; and a partnership with Learning for a Sustainable Future to develop EcoLeague, a program that inspires kids to save the planet by taking action at school, at home, and in their communities.
