Metered Billing:
Through the metered billing option, your green electricity costs will be “bundled” with your regular electricity costs and you will be charged a fixed rate of 8.9 cents per kWh. Green electricity charges will be included as a line item on your electricity bill from your local utility. Your utility will also bill you for certain administrative charges, including a variable charge known as the Provincial Benefit.
The Provincial Benefit was originally a reduction in the cost of electricity. Recently, however, the Provincial Benefit has become a charge and the size of that charge is increasing. Under metered billing, the Provincial Benefit will be listed on your electricity bill. For more information of the Provincial Benefit and for historical charges and credits, click here. Metered billing is the most accurate way to measure your electricity use. Under metered billing, you are unable to participate in time-of-use billing. It may also take up to 3 months for your account changes to become active.
