Do I need any special equipment or wiring?
No. You do not need any special equipment or wiring to switch to renewable energy. Nor are service calls to your location necessary to get you started. You will continue to draw power from the grid as you always have, and we ensure that the amount of renewable power you purchase is put onto the electricity grid.

How will my organization’s green electricity premium be calculated?
As a commercial customer of Bullfrog Power, your organization’s green electricity premium is calculated on a per kilowatt hour (kWh) basis according to your premises’ annual electricity usage.

How will Bullfrog Power determine my premises’ annual electricity usage?
Bullfrog estimates annual electricity usage in kilowatt hours (kWh) by calculating a daily average based on your premises’ historical electricity usage. As a commercial customer of Bullfrog Power, you agree to provide sufficient, accurate information to Bullfrog about your premises’ historical electricity usage. If usage information is not available (for example, if your site is not separately metered), Bullfrog can estimate your usage based upon the location's square footage, type of use and other building characteristics.

Where will my bill come from?
As a commercial customer of Bullfrog Power, you will receive one bill from your utility for your conventional electricity charges and a separate bill from Bullfrog for the green electricity premium. Bullfrog will invoice your organization monthly for one twelfth of your annual green electricity premium, plus applicable taxes. If you occupy a leased premises, and do not receive an electricity bill directly, you will receive a bill only from Bullfrog Power to cover the greening of your electricity service.

Can organizations that lease or rent their premises, and do not have a separate meter, become bullfrogpowered?
Yes. Bullfrog Power matches its customers’ electricity usage with green electricity that it injects onto the provincial grid. As a result, any identifiable location (e.g., head office, retail space, warehouse etc.) can become bullfrogpowered whether it is separately metered or not.

In order to bullfrogpower my leased or rented premises, will I need to convince my property manager and fellow tenants to also become bullfrogpowered?
No. Each tenant has their own choice to support green, carbon-free power. Because the green electricity premium is billed separately from your regular electricity costs, switching to Bullfrog Power does not require property manager notification. You will continue to pay for your regular electricity costs through your lease payment, or directly to your local utility if you receive your own electricity bill.

Will becoming bullfrogpowered affect my current supplier agreement?
No. The green electricity premium is billed separately from your regular electricity costs. As a result, becoming bullfrogpowered will not affect your current power supplier agreement, including long-term power contracts.

Aside from the green electricity premium and applicable taxes, are there any other charges or fees for commercial customers switching to Bullfrog Power?
No. There are no other charges or fees for switching to Bullfrog Power.

Why does green energy cost more?
Green energy is more expensive to produce than dirty power, but is more valuable as it does not pollute our air or our water. We pay our generators a premium for green electricity, which acknowledges its greater value and signals the market to make more. Bullfrog Power also uses a portion of the green premium to help develop new, renewable generation. New turbines have already been commissioned as a direct result of the demand for green power from Bullfrog’s commercial and residential customers, and more will follow as our customer base grows. In the longer term, with advances in renewable power generation technologies, and with increased demand for renewables, production is likely to become more cost-effective. The price difference between green and dirty power should therefore reduce over time.

How do I make my payments?
As a commercial customer, you have the option of paying your bill via cheque or the convenience of Pre-Authorized Payment through your banking institution. If you choose this payment method, you will receive an electronic invoice or invoice by mail showing the amount to be withdrawn at least ten days prior to the withdrawal date, for your review.

What if I want to terminate my commercial contract?
You may terminate your commercial agreement at any time.

What happens if there is a power outage?
Your local utility will continue to maintain the infrastructure that delivers power to your premises, and you will continue to draw power from the grid as you always have. The reliability of your service will therefore be unaffected by the switch to Bullfrog Power. In the event of a power outage, you should call your local utility directly. Click on the power outage information icon at www.bullfrogpower.com/contact/contact.cfm for the relevant telephone numbers.

Does Bullfrog Power’s renewable electricity meet the requirements of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System (LEED®)?
Yes. Bullfrog Power sources all of its electricity from power generation facilities that meet the federal government's Environmental Choice Program EcoLogoM standard for renewable electricity. These green power suppliers meet the LEED Green Building Rating System’s green power requirements.

How are energy conservation initiatives reflected in my bill?
Bullfrog will periodically compare your estimated and actual electricity usage and ensure that the amount of electricity you used has been accurately matched with renewable electricity injected onto the grid. Bullfrog will make the appropriate billing adjustment, including a credit if your organization’s electricity usage decreased as a result of energy conservation initiatives.

As a commercial customer of Bullfrog Power, can I use the bullfrogpowered logo on my organization’s website?
Yes. You may use the bullfrogpowered logo to represent your bullfrogpowered site in accordance with our brand guidelines, which you will receive as part of your welcome package.
