Amity Insulation Group Inc. chooses 100 per cent green electricity from Bullfrog Power® for its operations

Calgary, March 4, 2013—Bullfrog Power, Canada’s 100 per cent green energy provider, announced today that Amity Insulation Group Inc., one of Canada’s leading distributors of industrial insulation, metal, and accessory products, is committed to bullfrogpowering its offices, warehouse and manufacturing facilities in Edmonton with 100 per cent local wind power. By choosing Bullfrog Power, Amity Insulation is reducing its environmental impact and helping to advance green energy projects in Canada.

“Amity Insulation was born from a commitment to reduce energy consumption and today, indications are that insulation saves trillions of pounds of carbon dioxide each year. Choosing green electricity from Bullfrog Power gives us a new way to fulfill our sustainability goals by taking into account the impact of the energy that we use,” says Dana Landro, President of Amity Insulation. “By reducing our environmental footprint, we are doing our part and we hope to encourage others to do the same.”

Through the agreement, Bullfrog Power’s generators inject renewable electricity onto the regional grid to match the amount of power Amity Insulation uses.

In Alberta, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes exclusively from wind power facilities certified as low impact by Environment Canada under its EcoLogoM program, instead of conventional energy sources like coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear energy. Bullfrog also offers green natural gas, which is produced by capturing and cleaning the gas produced through the decay of organic matter in our everyday waste stream. This green natural gas is then injected onto the national gas pipeline, providing a clean and renewable alternative to fossil fuel-based natural gas. Unlike conventional natural gas, green natural gas does not increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and therefore helps prevent climate change.

Amity Insulation’s commitments extend far beyond its expertise in conserving energy. The company uses environmentally friendly products and supports suppliers who use biodegradable materials and recycled content. Amity Insulation manages its own recycling program, promotes environmental initiatives by supporting national parks and wildlife preservation through organizations like the WWF and CPAWS. Amity also runs an annual charity drive to support struggling families in the local community, while engaging other community projects locally and around the globe.

“We’re pleased to welcome Amity Insulation Group to the bullfrogpowered community in Alberta,” says Anthony Santilli, Vice President, Sales, Bullfrog Power. “By choosing clean, renewable energy with Bullfrog Power, Amity Insulation is setting an important example by showing that even fundamentally green businesses need to think about the environmental impact of the energy they use.”
