Car dealership and service centre chooses clean, renewable electricity

Edmonton, October 31, 2011 — Bullfrog Power^®, Canada's 100 per cent green energy provider, today announced that Waterloo Ford Lincoln, a new and used car dealership and service centre in Edmonton, is bullfrogpowering its showroom and sales offices. Following a significant renovation aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its dealership, Waterloo Ford Lincoln is signing on with Bullfrog Power as an important next step in its sustainability program. In Alberta, Bullfrog's electricity comes exclusively from local wind power facilities that have been certified by Environment Canada under its EcoLogo^M program—instead of from polluting sources like coal and natural gas. In addition to choosing green electricity, the dealership recently completed a major renovation project to enable green building practices throughout its facility. The building now uses a roofing system that reflects the sun's rays during warmer days. In addition, the dealership has installed programmable heating and cooling thermostats as well as centrally located air-handling units for heating and cooling. Further, locally sourced products were used throughout the renovation. The dealership has also worked to ensure its fleet vehicles are carbon neutral.
