Bullfrog Power is named Small Company of the Year
by Ontario Energy Association
Toronto, September 16, 2011 — Bullfrog Power®, Canada's 100 per cent green energy provider, is pleased to announce it has been awarded the Ontario Energy Association's (OEA) Small Company of the Year as part of the OEA Achievement Awards. Bullfrog Power is being recognized for launching the first green natural gas product to be widely available to homes and businesses across Canada. Sourced from organic material in our everyday waste stream, Bullfrog's biomethane product is a net-zero carbon dioxide emissions energy source that enables Canadians to use appliances and heat their homes and businesses without contributing to climate change.
"We are honoured to receive OEA's Small Company of the Year Award," says Tom Heintzman, President, Bullfrog Power. "We launched green natural gas to give Canadians another way to reduce their environmental impact and take action on climate change. We believe this award is a reflection of the leadership of our customers across Canada who, by choosing our green electricity and green natural gas, are working together to help create cleaner energy systems in Canada."
OEA's Small Company of the Year Award was established this year to recognize the increasing and transformative role small companies are playing in Ontario's energy sector. The award recognizes a company with 100 or fewer employees that has excelled in areas such as conservation and energy efficiency, customer service, market strategy and brand reputation.
"The winners of the 2011 OEA Achievement Awards—such as Bullfrog Power—exemplify the integrity, the vision and the vitality of Ontario's energy sector," says Elise Herzig, President and CEO, OEA. "They understand that true success depends on being responsive to customers, responsible to communities, and respectful of the environment."
Bullfrog launched its green natural gas choice in early 2011 in support of its mission to provide holistic renewable energy solutions for homes and businesses. Currently, hundreds of individuals and organizations across Canada are signed on for the renewable energy product.
Bullfrog's green natural gas has also received support from several environmental groups, such as The Pembina Institute and WWF-Canada. Some of Bullfrog Power's green natural gas business customers include Kraft Canada, Mountain Equipment
Co-op, Moksha Yoga, Park Place Shopping Centre, Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Evergreen Brick Works, and many others.
"We believe there is huge potential for this energy source in Canada," says Tom Heintzman. "Using customer demand, we aim to support the development of new green natural gas sources in the country, making the product more widely available and helping to further transform Canada's energy landscape."
