Toronto, ON, September 27, 2011 — Bullfrog Power, Canada's 100 per cent green energy provider, is proud to announce that its president, Tom Heintzman, has been named one of Canada's Clean50 by the Delta Management Group. The inaugural award recognizes individuals or small teams who have made the greatest impact on Canada's long-term sustainability and have contributed to clean business in the country. Award organizers considered prospects in 16 categories including Renewable Energy Generation, Clean Tech, Research and Development and Retail. As a further honour, Heintzman has also been named one of Canada's Clean16, a distinction given to the leaders in the 16 categories who have made the biggest difference over the past few years.

“It's a great honour to be named one of Canada's Clean16,” says Tom Heintzman, President, Bullfrog Power. “I am also pleased to have the opportunity to work with members of Canada's Clean50 on ways to further the sustainability agenda in Canada.”

Delta Management Group, with input from its own group of researchers, an external advisory team, and with advice from Corporate Knights, conducted a national search identifying more than 300 candidates for consideration to be part of Canada's Clean50.

“The interest shown by individuals and companies across almost every sector was quite remarkable, and the quality of nominees was exceptional. The good news for Canada is that we had so many deserving people to consider,” says Gavin Pitchford, Chief Talent Officer, Delta Management Group. “Over the course of his career, Heintzman has made a significant impact on the energy landscape in Canada. He's helping increase awareness of the importance of green energy, and through Bullfrog is providing Canadians a way to choose—and support the development of—renewable energy.”

Chosen as the leader in the Renewable Energy Generation category, Heintzman is recognized for co-founding Bullfrog Power, which has grown to include nearly 50 employees and provides renewable energy solutions to more than 8,000 homes and 1,500 businesses across Canada. He is also being recognized for his long history in sustainability, which includes work with the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, where he was instrumental in establishing the organization's Ontario office and led several precedent-setting litigation, public advocacy and lobbying campaigns associated with the environmental consequences of the oil refining, mining, forestry, fishing and automobile industries.
