GTAA Partners in Project Green and Bullfrog Power® celebrate Green Power milestone
Pearson Eco-Business Zone more than halfway toward 58,000 MWh Green Power Challenge goal
Toronto, January 20, 2011 — Bullfrog Power, Canada's 100 per cent green electricity provider, and the GTAA Partners in Project Green, today announced that in less than one year the Pearson Eco-Business Zone has already reached 50 per cent of the ultimate goal in its Green Power Challenge. The Challenge, launched at the Partners in Project Green April 2010 AGM at Woodbine Racetrack, was developed with the goal of sourcing 58,000 MWh of electricity used by the Zone from renewable generation. Bullfrog Power was selected by the coalition of airport area businesses as the preferred green power supplier to member organizations.
Recently, a major green power purchase by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Association (OLG) for its slots at Woodbine Racetrack pushed the Green Power Challenge over the 50 per cent milestone on the way to the ultimate target of 58,000 MWh. The purchase also secured OLG's status as the largest purchaser of green power from Bullfrog in the country.
